Find out what Matt & Tammy are up to!
In early July of 2019 we were sailing near the mouth of Ghost Lake when the wind kicked up to about 20 km/hr. We hadn't been down at the end of the reservoir more than a couple of times so we were quite unaware of the shoal on the North side just West of Ghost Lake Village until we discovered it, hidden beneath the whipped up surface, by running smack dab into it on a beam reach. Needless to say we were stopped quickly by the daggerboard which was chewed up quite thoroughly and the slot housing that was cracked on four sides. Fortunately we managed to limp back to the dock without sinking but the damage necessitated repairs to both board and dinghy.
The blue paint on the dinghy was in fairly poor condition and we needed to give it a touch up. We picked fire engine red and covered that with transparent truck bed liner to provide grip. In retrospect we should have only put the truck bed liner on the seats but we'll leave it as-is until the next major refit.
